Join us at Café Dejena for a world of delicious tastes and smells from our native Eritrea! Our relaxed and casual atmosphere is a great place to gather with friends, grab a healthy bite to eat or catch up on your emails with our free wi-fi over a hot cup of coffee, expresso or tea!

We offer a full breakfast and lunch menu made with fresh food and seasonal vegetables, which includes both traditional Eritrean favorites, Italian dishes that represent the influence of Italy on our heritage, and some classic American dishes as well.

About Our Menu
Here are just some of the unique dishes Café Dejena has to offer:
  • Kitcha Fitfit (key’cha fit-fit) Homemade barley pita soaked in spiced butter and chili powder (berbere) served with plain yogurt.
  • Taita Fitfit (tie-ta fit-fit) Homemade Eritrean sour flat spongy bread soaked in spiced butter and chili powder (berbere).
  • Shiro (she-ro) Specially-spiced chick peas served with taita. Shiro is 100% chick peas spiced with cumin, garlic, ginger and coriander has many health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and lowering blood sugar, helps relieve tiredness.
  • Tsebhe Tsome (tse-be-he som) Combination of 100% vegetarian dishes: lentil, cabbage, potato and carrot and spinach served with taita. Our spices and how we have cooked it have been shown to be good for colon health and improving irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Ge’at Warm barley porridge topped with spiced butter and chile powder (berbere).
  • Grilled Chicken Panini Sun dried tomatoes, basil, spinach, red onion, pesto and mayonnaise on foccacia or Parisian bread.
  • Dejena Pasta Salad Fresh chilled macaroni pasta with homemade pesto OR Fresh chilled bow tie pasta with carrots, Kalamata olives and red onion tossed with our homemade tangy vinaigrette.
  • Shahan Ful Bowl of fava beans served with fresh tomatoes, jalapeno, onions, olive oil, cumin and plain yogurt of feta cheese served with French roll or whole wheat pita bread. The dish has many health benefits and cumin has been reported to be hypoglycemic.
